Where most Moroccan rugs are woven from raw wool, Boucherouite rugs are built from something else entirely: recycled fabric. The technique took shape in the High Atlas region in the 1950s, when weavers repurposed worn clothing and leftover textile scraps into thick, warm floor coverings for the mountain winters. What started as resourcefulness became its own recognizable style — dense, colorful, and no two pieces alike.

This rug follows that tradition: a mixed-material weave of fabric strips, cotton, and wool, hand-knotted into a textured pile with a loose, painterly color mix. It suits informal, lived-in spaces — a den, a playroom, a covered terrace — better than a formal setting, and unlike wool-only rugs, it can be washed.
